Brief Update

,
Like the new look? It's frameless!

Also, Kristina bought be the Lego Viking longboat set. Awesome!

Present update!

,
So, apart from my present to myself (the GameBoy Micro)... my dad got my a Sony Handicam! It's very pretty.

And my mom bought me a cool recipe book. All in all, today has been a good birthday.

Thanks for all the unexpected e-mails and cards. All -er- 7 of them.

Carl Out.

Twenty-four

,
That's right, twenty-four. Yep.

2 Things

,
1. Should I lose the frames on CarlBurgers.com? Comment, people, comment!

2. "V For Vendetta" is awesome. Please go see it!

Expanded Guy Fawkes poem

,
Here's a long version of the Guy Fawkes poem, thanks to the "V For Vendetta" web-site. The lines after the "should ever be forgot" are all new to me:

Remember, remember, the fifth of November,
The gunpowder treason and plot.
I know of no reason why gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot.

Guy Fawkes, Guy Fawkes,
'Twas his intent
To blow up the King and the Parliament.
Poor old England to overthrow.
By God's providence he was catch’d
With a dark lantern and burning match.

Holloa boys, holloa boys, let the bells ring.
Holloa boys, holloa boys, God save the King!
Hip hip hoorah!
Hip hip hoorah!

A penny loaf to feed ol' Pope,
A farthing cheese to choke him.
A pint of beer to rinse it down,
A faggot of sticks to burn him.
Burn him in a tub of tar,
Burn him like a blazing star.
Burn his body from his head,
Then we'll say ol' Pope is dead.

Hip hip hoorah!
Hip hip hoorah!

Several Things:

,
AfricaMMO is coming. I think I might want to play this MORE than LOTRO... depending on the gameplay. I am being serious, folks. An MMO based on AFRICAN myth? I'll pay mad moneys for that! Interestingly, despite the fact that the game is set in North-Western Africa the developers are using the Zulu witchdoctor word: Sangoma. I hope there are tokoloshes and mokeles!

Also, Spicy Premium Chicken is here! I haven't bought one, but this guy has. Below I will transcribe the ACTUAL COPY from a paper advertisement for this product:

new
spicy
premium
chicken

McDonald's(r) new Spicy Premium
Chicken Sandwich is bursting onto
the scene in a bold way.

But "spicy" is more than just
"hot." This juicy, crispy,
premium chicken breast
brings a complex blend of flavors:
the heat of cayenne, the
smolder of chipotle, the
zing of garlic, and the zip
of onion, all under one roof
of your mouth. Top it all with
cool leaf lettuce, tomato slice,
and creamy mayo dressing. It's
premium chicken, spiced up.

Who the HELL writes this stuff? "All under one roof of your mouth"? What does that even mean? Do I have multiple mouth roofs?

And I hope all Achewood fans will join me in: Ray's Dad? HELL YES!

Some more changes

Is life passing you by?

,
What does that even mean? It's very hard not to participate in life, I have decided. Every day there are choices to be made: wake up... eat... get dressed...

And we're supposed to be DOING SOMETHING GREAT.

When "life passes one by" it normally means that adventures aren't the order of the day. MAXIMUM POTENTIAL is not being reached.

When I think of potential, I think of falling. Climbing up really high... and then falling. Rollings stones gather no moss. Plummeting stones shatter into millions of little pieces when all that potential is converted into something KINETIC.

Life isn't passing me by. I'm the one that's moving.

I don't know where I'm going, but I'm moving.

I like MOMENTUM. If I can get enough of it, I might be able to smash THROUGH things.

Other news

,
I am spending money all over the place:

- James At The Mill
- Game Boy Micro plus 2 games
- Reactivating domain, paying for hosting

AND NOW:

Netflix. Got my first DVD today. This is great! Hooray for consumerism!

Trying out posting via e-mail (attempt number 2)

,

Yep, I'm just full of changes this weekend.

Mostly, it's distraction. I will not be able to play "The Battle for
Middle Earth 2" because my computer is too old. Instead, I am enjoying
my new Game Boy Micro. It is extra sexy. I have "Super Mario 3" and
"Sonic Advance 3." They are both awesome.

So, now that carlburgers.com is up again, I might start doing more poems
and stuff. Maybe. And I will revisit "Dreampath" (that's my fantasy story).

Who knows, people, who knows?

A Word On Books

,
So, I read "Anansi Boys" recently. It was pretty fun. I hope Neil Gaiman is going to write more sons-of-gods books. "American Gods" was the tale of Shadow, the son of Odin. "Anansi Boys" deals with Fat Charlie, the son of Anansi, the trickster god.

Neil Gaiman spent a large part of the first book dealing with the problem of worship. It was a dark book, matching its subject (Odin) well.

The tone in "Anansi Boys" is very light. Even in the most violent places the book is largely comic... almost Terry-Pratchet comic.

But enough rambling. I am currently reading "Redwall" by Brian Jacques. It's fun.
