Things are about to change

,
I saw Lisa's concept sketches for the "Lumpy Puppy" on Wednesday. Very awesome. Once I get into gear and complete draft one, we'll work on each page's art and what kind of thing.

As far as some side projects: I am going to Flash up my page using OPENLASZLO. Maybe. It will depend on how easy the program is to use.

Also, my blog is apparently rated "G" :

More Tobacco and Terry Gilliam

,
I spent a fair amount of money at my tobacconist this week. The pipe stand was not all that necessary, but a new pipe was needed. You see, as it was explained to me, tobacco comes (basically) in 3 types: aromatic (like the Cavendishes I've been smoking and cherry tobaccos), English (which taste like earth and firewood) and Virginian (which smell like jerky). The second two are particularly strong and require dedicated pipes for proper enjoyment. So I bought a lovely new pipe which I am using for English-style tobaccos. It has a larger bowl and is very pretty. The wood is untreated, so it will age wonderfully as I smoke it.

In the future I shall purchase another pipe for Virginian tobaccos (I have already picked the one I will buy). Kristina has her eye on a lovely meerschaum pipe which I promise to get her the next time we go. We also got some suave leather pouches. Excellent.

Our next trip will go as follows: 2 oz of some aromatic tobacco, 2 oz English and a pipe for Kristina. If my pipe is still there I might purchase it and some Virginian tobacco.

And not the Gilliam.

We rented TIDELAND this week. We've both been wanted to watch it for some time as we both love Gilliam's phantasmagoric films. The first thing I noticed was the explanation of the "R" rating on the back of the box:

Bizarre and disturbing content, including drug use sexuality, and gruesome situations - all involving a child, and some language.

The film also began with a disclaimer by Mr Gilliam himself (Kristina noted it was a mix of Hitchcock and Disney).

This film was deeply troubling. And wonderful. I don't care to give away anything - please rent it and watch it. Then e-mail me about it.

It's as weird as THE FOUNTAIN and as graphic as PAN'S LABYRINTH (only in different ways.

The more I think back to it, the more I like it - but watching it was painfully creepy at times. That blurb up there is NOT JOKING.

CREEPY. DRUG-RELATED, SEX-RELATED SCENES... AND A LITTLE GIRL!!!

Ok, to bed with me!

Let me explain

,
So, the drama at work was:

People were taking lots of money. We fired them and the police are involved now. All is excellent.

The Police. I might have to find a way to see them AND Alice Cooper. Maybe.

Maybe.

The Police

,
So, I haven't posted about the Police reunion tour. This is because I am unable to go and it saddens me.

Work is all consuming and I get little time away from it. But work isn't all bad. I was able to work on our catering trailer at RIVERFEST and EDGEFEST. Perks at these affairs include free beer. Free. Beer. Also, we are probably going to cater the Alice Cooper concert in Little Rock.

So, I don't get to see the Police. But I do get to see Alice Cooper. I think that's a very good trade off, don't you? I know Clayton agrees with me.

I am Carl

,
Today I took out my garbage dressed as follows: flip-flops, tracksuit pants, a vest and a chain. Strange, isn't that the exact attire of another, rather infamous CARL?

Soon I will be as hairy and perhaps as bald. Time will reveal all.

Haven't been dabbling to heavily in the MMOs of late. World of Warcraft is a distant memory. With regard to Lord of the Rings Online: I have rolled several toons across two servers. At the moment Kristina plays more than I do. I have also re-activated my STAR WARS GALAXIES account. I am enjoying being a medic on Tatooine.

Haven't smoked my pipe in 2 days. Kristina has been on to me about smoking too much. I've been at about 1 pipe every 1-2 days. I'd like to make it a once a week thing. It can be bath night! A bath, a pipe and some port. Sounds good to me.

My books have all been put on the very-far-away burner. Work is all consuming. I dream of Popeyes almost every night. Especially with the latest antics (which I shall elaborate on soon).

But let me recap:

I am working on 2 novels in the same Universe:
"Dreampath" and "Dark Awakening" - they are both set in a kind of Romano-Colonial Africa. The first being about a boy from "Rome" who is part of prophecy that speaks of the end of the world as it is known. The second is about a "Roman" boy who is saved from a horde of "zombies" by a young "Roman" lady and a witchdoctor who are searching for the girl's brother.

[A Note: all those quote are not for emphasis. I am using them to show that the children are from some pseudo-Rome and that the horde are close to zombies, but are not in fact zombies. To explain my own terminologies in this post would take so long, so I am using recognizable words as place holders. Thank you.]

Related to this is my PLAY-BY-EMAIL RPG set in the post-cataclysmic version of the Universe of my two previously mentioned novels. The book serious (and the game) is called "Broken Dawn." Anyway - I need to get back to that stuff.

Then there is "The Lumpy Puppy." Lisa Miller has drawn some pictures for me, so I will have to churn this out soon.

So - Lumpy Puppy first, then I'll hit the whole Broken Dawn situation with a vengeance.

A New Hobby

,
I bought a cheap pipe today and some delicious tobacco.

Cigarettes have always repulsed me. They are odoursome and crass. Pipes, on the other hand, are somehow wonderful.

Speaking to a few friends, I received nothing but encouragement for my new pastime. Please join me in a lovely pipe of mellow tobacco. When my current bag of "Wilshire" is depleted I intend to purchase a few different blends and a couple extra pipes.
