((Carl sustained NO injuries, don't worry!))
I was coming back home from Rogers on the I40. Shortly after Atkins I nicked the grassy divider and lost control of the car. During all the swerving that resulted I felt the car lift off the ground ever so slightly. I swayed around the two southbound lanes before shooting across the 3-lane-thick median, across the next two lanes (no cars were coming, so I did not collide with anything there) and over the shoulder in a forest. The car splashed through a creek and came to a stop dangerously near to 3 massive oak trees.
When the car swerved I was too panicked to behave in any reasonable manner. I was going about 80 miles an hour, I'd guess, and for some reason I didn't think to stop accelerating until I was in the trees on the other side of the highway.
If I had rolled, I would have been dead. If a truck had hit me, I would have been dead. If one of those trees had been planted a foot to either the left or the right of where they stood, I would have been dead.
As it turns out, I am totally unscathed. The car is totally totalled.
Ok, off to work. I am late.
