Ah! Ol' Tobe!

,
Bought a Zippo for my pipe. Not a fancy pipe Zippo, though. It's a nice one, none-the-less.

I have decided that I'm not too fond of the English that I was smoking, not when compared directly to the Aromatic and Natural (Virginian) that I have been smoking. I smoked two pipes of "Wilshire" in my English pipe. The pipe is heavily seasoned at this point, so it will be a while before I can get rid off the English flavour.

I will still smoke English, only in a smaller bowl. Next trip to the shop, I will get a little church warden or something for the English. I know Kristina enjoys it - she has dedicated her Meersham pipe to English tobaccos!

Working Title: "Samedi is Coming"

Knocked out chapter 1. By chapter 5 the Zombie Invasion of Fayetteville, Ark. will be underway.

The zombification is spread by Baron Samedi's ice cream truck.

Yes. Baron Samedi.

What a great day!

,
It's warm, but not too warm.

I love it.

I am going to get a bite to eat at 'The Faded Rose' across the street. There I will begin a new novel/short story. It's about zombies. Can you dig it? I sure can.

Carl out.

I almost died

,
((Carl sustained NO injuries, don't worry!))

I was coming back home from Rogers on the I40. Shortly after Atkins I nicked the grassy divider and lost control of the car. During all the swerving that resulted I felt the car lift off the ground ever so slightly. I swayed around the two southbound lanes before shooting across the 3-lane-thick median, across the next two lanes (no cars were coming, so I did not collide with anything there) and over the shoulder in a forest. The car splashed through a creek and came to a stop dangerously near to 3 massive oak trees.

When the car swerved I was too panicked to behave in any reasonable manner. I was going about 80 miles an hour, I'd guess, and for some reason I didn't think to stop accelerating until I was in the trees on the other side of the highway.

If I had rolled, I would have been dead. If a truck had hit me, I would have been dead. If one of those trees had been planted a foot to either the left or the right of where they stood, I would have been dead.

As it turns out, I am totally unscathed. The car is totally totalled.

Ok, off to work. I am late.

A New Blog!

A new BLOG! Awesome!

Beowulf and Scion:Hero

,
They've finally put a website up for the upcoming
BEOWULF film. I've squealed about this before: Neil Gaiman co-writes, Sir Anthony Hopkins in Hrothgar, Mr Beaver from Chronicles of Narnia is Beowulf, Cripsin Glover is Grendel. Oh, and Angelina Jolie is Grendel's mother.

I own 5 different translations of this poem spread across 8 books (3 copies are dedicated to the Seamus Heaney translation - 4 if you count my Norton English Literature 1 textbook).

Beowulf is awesome.

Neil Gaiman is awesome.

I am going to have a mild seizure when the opening credits roll.

Different topic: White Wolf RPGs!
I picked up a copy of the Scion:Hero core rulebook. Truth be told, I'm pretty burned on d20 and I was looking for a new system that didn't need me to build everything (like GURPS).

In Scion:Hero your character is the child of a god. It's set in the present, which gives the game a wonderful Neil Gaiman's "American Gods" feel.

More on Scion later when I have a campaign prepared.
